Donor Relations Assistant
The Institute for Justice (IJ) is a public interest law firm on the front lines fighting to end widespread abuse of government power and secure all Americans’ rights to pursue their dreams. The financial support of nearly 10,000 individual donors makes our work possible. IJ’s development team ensures these supporters see the real-world impact of their contributions and finds new and additional sources of support for our work.
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Donor Relations Assistant on our development team. The Donor Relations Assistant is essential in stewarding, renewing, and increasing support from individuals supporting IJ with $1,000-$24,999 gifts annually. Together, these donors comprise IJ’s Partners Club and Guardians Circle. The Donor Relations Assistant ensures that these donors receive accurate and timely information about their support and what it makes possible at IJ.
This position is based in Arlington, VA, with work-from-home available one to two days per week. Please expect to be in the office four days a week most of the time.
Responsibilities
Process and acknowledge donations from individuals giving $1,000-$24,999
Maintain clean data and records on giving and engagement by donors in IJ’s Partners Club and Guardians Circle
Welcome new giving club members
Draft responses to donor inquiries
Assist with cultivation mailings, giving club events, and other activities
Manage IJ’s quarterly in-house appeal
Manage IJ’s bi-monthly in-house Liberty & Law mailing
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail
Commitment to producing error-free work

Ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize, problem-solve, and meet deadlines
Command of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Proficiency with data entry and database management
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Commitment to promoting individual liberty and challenging government abuse

A hybrid work schedule. Ability to work remote one day a week, two as needed.
